From August 25th to 30th, 2015, Angouleme French Film Festival was held in Angouleme, France. For the first time, the famous Swiss watchmaking brand Schaffhausen IWC was the official partner of the film festival . On the evening of the 30th, Georges Kern, CEO of the brand, presented Emmanuel Finkiel with the Valois Best Director Award. About 100 VIP guests and global superstars attended the ‘Favorite Movie’ themed celebration dinner, including Christopher Lambert and Vincent Lindon.
‘In the world of fine watchmaking, the combination of the sincere enthusiasm and precision work of many talents has created a magic mechanism and tells fascinating stories. It is also true in the film industry. Countless individual creative sums make art masterpieces, taking us away from reality and exploring the art world. ‘Qochis, CEO of Schaffhausen IWC, describes the similarities between watchmaking and film. Over the years, Schaffhausen has demonstrated its passion for film through sponsorship and has established official partnerships with internationally renowned film festivals such as Beijing, New York, Zurich, London and Dubai.
In 2008, producers Marie-France Brière and Dominique Besnehard founded the Angoulême French Film Festival. In just a few years, the festival has won the favor of French film lovers. In five days, more than 80 films from France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, Switzerland, and French-speaking countries and regions such as Africa and the Middle East were screened and selected under the auspices of French actor Jean Hugo Anglad. In the evening of the 30th, Valois awards in eight categories were presented.
Emmanuel El Finch used the ‘Je ne suis pas un salaud’ piece to collect Valois Best Director Award and received a IWC Portofino hand-wound eight-day power reserve watch ( Ref. IW510102). ‘French films are very artistic and have a good reputation. They have already transcended language boundaries, and we are honored to be able to sponsor and support French film works,’ concludes Joachis Schaffhausen CEO.
